If your pet should go missing, microchipping is a great way to ensure that you will be reunited quickly. Most species can be microchipped, it became compulsory for all dogs to be microchipped in 2016.

It is a sad fact that thousands of pets go missing every year and many are never reunited with their owners. Whilst collars and tags can become snagged and easily lost, the good news is that microchipping is a permanent method of identification.

The microchip is the size of a grain of rice and the procedure, which is carried out by a Vet or Vet Nurse, takes only a few minutes and lasts a lifetime.

Each microchip contains a unique code, which together with your pet's details and address are stored on a central database. Veterinary practices, the police and welfare organisations all have scanners so they are able to routinely check stray pets. Do remember to notify the database if you change your contact details.
