Come and join our friendly team and experience the amazing scenery and culture of Shetland at the UK’s most Northerly Vet practice.

One of our Vets has gone on maternity leave and due to increased demand we are looking for 2 mixed Vets to join our Employee-Owned practice.

We have a great and supportive team team of 3 full time RVNs and 5 flexible-hours RVNs along with 2 ACAs and our team of 5 Vets. All our Vets and Nurses have key areas of interest and we are looking forward to adding some new Vets to the mix.  Our receptionists and admin staff complete our amazing team and are experienced and knowledgeable. We are a registered Nurse training practice as well, which offers a great opportunity for teaching.

Our practices offer a range of services from routine check-ups to emergency surgeries. We are well equipped with ultrasound scanners at our 2 main branches, endoscope, digital x-ray, dental x-ray and Idexx lab suite.

As an employer, we are committed to promoting and protecting the physical and mental health of all our staff.

The scenery and culture of Shetland is a joy to explore. Shetland was ranked as number six in the Lonely Planets’ list of top European destinations - the only place in the UK to feature! There is always something to look forward to throughout the year. In January we start our fire festival and Up Helly Aa celebrations, signifying the end of the yule season, then in to April with the world renowned Folk Festival towards June and the time of the midnight sun, Simmer Dim! In autumn or the ‘hairst’ it’s a great time for getting out and about cycling, hill-walking or kayaking or there is the famous Shetland Wool Week if ‘makkin’ is more your thing.  As winter approaches again the Northern Lights are visible. There is also wildlife aplenty and orca are a common sight from our coastline.

We are looking for maternity cover/permanent positions but would love to hear from anyone who is interested in working with us here at Shetland Vets. Small animal Vets, new graduates and locum Vets are all invited to get in touch.

For more information please email directors@shetlandvets.co.uk or call Karen Williamson on 01595 810456.
